ISLAMABAD
Following directives from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the government has launched a smart monitoring dashboard to track energy consumption and efficiency measures across federal and provincial offices amid the ongoing energy crisis.
Developed by the National IT Board, the dashboard provides daily updates on petrol usage, government vehicle operations, and fuel availability nationwide. It allows authorities to monitor implementation of efficiency measures, including the decision to ground 60% of official vehicles to conserve energy.
Officials said the system integrates data from multiple ministries, enabling real-time tracking of energy-saving targets, fuel stocks, and city-wise demand and supply comparisons. The platform is also expected to enhance transparency, accountability, and evidence-based policy decisions.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif regularly reviews the dashboard to assess the effectiveness of ongoing austerity measures, ensuring that energy management policies are implemented efficiently across all levels of government.
Authorities believe the new tool will play a key role in shaping timely decisions, including smart lockdowns and other interventions, while enabling faster and more precise policy-making to address the national energy shortfall.
