ISLAMABAD
Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) Group reported a 62 per cent year-on-year increase in revenue for the nine-month period ended September 30, 2026, as the integration of Ufone and Telenor Pakistan boosted its mobile business and helped lift operating profits.
The group’s operating profit surged 181 per cent from a year earlier, while net profit reached Rs4.7 billion, according to financial results announced at a board meeting in Islamabad.
The results reflect the growing contribution of mobile operations following the integration of Telenor Pakistan under Pakistan Telecommunication Mobile Limited (PTML), alongside continued growth in fixed broadband, enterprise solutions and wholesale services.
PTCL’s own revenue increased 9 per cent year-on-year, supported by a 26 per cent rise in Flash Fiber revenue, a 15 per cent increase in business solutions and 13 per cent growth in carrier and wholesale services. Revenue from international business also rose 11 per cent.
The company reported an operating profit of Rs11 billion, while its net profit stood at Rs3 billion, marking a 343 per cent improvement compared with the corresponding period last year.
Mobile business expands after Telenor integration
PTML’s revenue climbed 139 per cent year-on-year, reflecting the addition of Telenor Pakistan’s operations and continued growth across corporate and retail segments.
The mobile business recorded an operating profit of Rs33.5 billion, up 181 per cent from a year earlier, as higher revenue, operational improvements and integration benefits supported its performance.
PTML added 1.5 million subscribers during the third quarter, taking its total customer base beyond 76 million. The company attributed the growth partly to package alignment, increased service usage and improving average revenue per user (ARPU).
The operator also expanded 5G coverage in major cities and made progress in integrating networks across 25 districts by the end of the quarter.
PTML said its near-term priorities include completing network integration, expanding 5G coverage, improving network quality and strengthening digital capabilities and customer experience.
It also introduced family-sharing bundles and additional self-service features during the quarter to improve access to digital services.
Flash Fiber and enterprise services support PTCL growth
PTCL continued to strengthen its position in the fixed broadband market, supported by demand for high-speed connectivity and enterprise technology services.
During the quarter, the company introduced a limited-period Azadi offer combining a 100 Mbps Flash Fiber connection with an IPTV set-top box. It also partnered with Apple-authorised distributor Mercantile to introduce the iPhone 18 in Pakistan alongside a dedicated Flash Fiber bundle.
Its business solutions segment continued to benefit from demand for information and communications technology services, cloud computing, on-premises artificial intelligence infrastructure, cybersecurity, managed services and data centre solutions.
PTCL also maintained its position in submarine connectivity, IP bandwidth and domestic bandwidth services for carrier customers, supporting the connectivity requirements of businesses and service providers.
The company’s performance comes as demand for broadband infrastructure and enterprise digital services continues to grow, with businesses increasingly relying on cloud platforms, cybersecurity and data-driven systems.
U Microfinance Bank reports operating turnaround
U Microfinance Bank, commonly known as U Bank, recorded revenue of Rs18.3 billion during the period and reported an operating profit, compared with an operating loss in the corresponding period last year.
The bank also recorded an 84 per cent improvement in its net financial results compared with the previous period, indicating a recovery in its financial performance.
The results add another dimension to the group’s performance as PTCL continues to develop its telecommunications, digital services and financial inclusion businesses.
Digital inclusion initiatives target women and underserved communities
Alongside its financial performance, PTCL Group continued programmes aimed at expanding digital access and economic participation.
Under the Ba-Ikhtiyar programme, 2,100 women across 22 districts completed training in digital marketing, e-commerce and digital financial literacy through U Bank. Participants also received Ufone 5G SIMs with free connectivity and UPaisa wallets.
PTCL signed a memorandum of understanding with ConnectHear to introduce SILA, an artificial intelligence-powered sign-language service, at selected customer service centres in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. The initiative is intended to improve access to customer services for people with hearing impairments.
PTML also partnered with the United Nations polio eradication programme, implemented through UNICEF’s National Emergency Operations Centre, to provide GSM connectivity to frontline health workers across Pakistan.
Marketing campaigns win industry recognition
PTCL said its Independence Day campaign, “Pakistan Jitna Jawan”, highlighted the company’s evolution alongside Pakistan over the past 79 years and its transformation into an integrated ICT services provider.
The company won five awards at Dragons of Pakistan 2026, including one Silver, one Bronze and three Black Dragons.
Ufone and Telenor Pakistan collectively secured nine awards for their marketing, public relations, media, digital and content campaigns, including two Gold, two Silver and five Black Dragons.
The latest results highlight the financial impact of PTCL Group’s expanding mobile operations while demonstrating continued growth in broadband and enterprise services. The sustainability of that momentum will depend on the successful integration of mobile networks, service quality improvements and the group’s ability to translate its expanded customer base into stronger financial returns.
