Pakistan Railways Goes Digital with Self-Ticketing, Wi-Fi at Upgraded HQ Reservation Office

Islamabad

Pakistan Railways has completed a major upgrade of its headquarters reservation office, introducing self-ticketing machines, free Wi-Fi and enhanced security systems in a move aimed at modernising passenger services.

The revamped facility features two self-service ticketing machines, enabling passengers to obtain tickets independently, reducing wait times and easing pressure on counters.

Digital Shift in Passenger Services

As part of the modernisation drive, the office has been equipped with security cameras and improved digital infrastructure, alongside complimentary Wi-Fi for commuters.

Officials said the upgrade is designed to streamline ticketing operations and improve the overall passenger experience, aligning railway services with evolving digital standards.

Expanded Counters and Accessibility

The renovated office now includes 15 ticketing counters, with dedicated windows for women, men and senior citizens to ensure smoother service delivery.

A separate information desk has also been established to assist passengers with travel queries and guidance.

Formal Inauguration Expected

Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi is expected to formally inaugurate the upgraded facility in the coming days.

The development reflects broader efforts by Pakistan Railways to modernise infrastructure and improve service efficiency, as authorities look to revitalise the country’s rail network and enhance commuter convenience.
