VEON, JazzWorld Reaffirm Commitment to Pakistan’s Digital and Economic Growth
ISLAMABAD:
Senior leadership of VEON Group and JazzWorld has reaffirmed its commitment to Pakistan’s digital transformation and economic growth, with a high-level delegation holding discussions with key government and regulatory officials on connectivity, digital infrastructure, investment and financial inclusion.
The delegation, led by VEON Group CEO Kaan Terzioglu and JazzWorld CEO Aamir Ibrahim, met Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja, PTA Chairman Major General (Retired) Hafeez Ur Rehman, and SECP Chairman Dr. Kabir Ahmed Sidhu.
The meetings focused on the future of Pakistan’s digital connectivity, including the expansion of 4G and 5G networks, development of digital infrastructure, increased investment and efforts to promote wider financial inclusion.
Terzioglu said Pakistan remains one of VEON’s most important markets and reaffirmed the group’s commitment to continuing investment in the country’s digital future.
He said stronger collaboration between the company, government and regulatory authorities would be critical for encouraging long-term investment, supporting innovation and ensuring that the benefits of digital growth reach a broader section of the population.
The discussions also covered opportunities to further strengthen Pakistan’s digital infrastructure at a time when reliable connectivity and technology-enabled services are becoming increasingly important to economic activity, businesses and consumers.
JazzWorld CEO Aamir Ibrahim highlighted the company’s broader transformation beyond traditional telecommunications. He said JazzWorld is evolving into an integrated digital ServiceCo, bringing telecommunications together with financial services, banking, insurance, artificial intelligence and technology through a unified digital ecosystem.
The company’s strategy reflects a broader shift in the telecom industry, where operators are increasingly expanding beyond connectivity to provide digital financial, technology and consumer services through integrated platforms.
The meetings also explored opportunities to mobilize additional investment in digital infrastructure and expand access to financial and insurance services across Pakistan.
Both sides discussed the potential to scale technology-led solutions that can support businesses and consumers while contributing to greater digital and financial inclusion.
The engagement comes as Pakistan continues to expand its digital infrastructure and seeks greater private-sector investment in emerging technologies, connectivity and digital services. The growing focus on 5G, digital finance, artificial intelligence and technology-driven businesses is expected to play an important role in shaping the country’s digital economy.
For VEON and JazzWorld, the discussions underscored the strategic importance of Pakistan and the company’s intention to remain a major participant in the country’s evolving digital ecosystem.
