ISLAMABAD:

The Senate Secretariat has taken another step towards digitizing parliamentary administration by conducting a comprehensive training session on its E-Office System, as part of ongoing efforts to modernize internal governance and improve administrative efficiency.

The training, organized by the Secretariat’s Information Technology Directorate, brought together officers and officials from all branches of the Senate Secretariat to strengthen the adoption of digital workflows and paperless administration.

The initiative is being implemented under the leadership of Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, who has championed the use of digital technologies to transform the Secretariat into a modern, transparent and paperless institution.

According to the Secretariat, the transition from conventional paper-based filing to an integrated digital platform is expected to improve governance by streamlining official processes and enhancing public service delivery.

The training was jointly conducted by the IT Directorate and Muhammad Wajahat Saeed of the National Information Technology Board (NITB). While the IT Directorate has overseen implementation of the E-Office System within the Senate Secretariat, NITB has provided technical support, system customization and user training to facilitate its rollout.

Officials said the E-Office System is expected to accelerate file processing, improve transparency and accountability, strengthen digital record management, reduce paper consumption and lower operational costs through more efficient administrative processes.

The latest training reflects the Senate Secretariat’s broader digital transformation agenda, aimed at promoting innovation, improving institutional governance and supporting environmentally sustainable public administration through the adoption of digital technologies.
