LAHORE
The Punjab government has expanded its digital panic button system across the province, aiming to enhance emergency response and strengthen public safety through technology-driven solutions.
Officials from the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) said the upgraded system enables citizens to instantly connect with the police emergency helpline 15, share their live location, and receive rapid assistance during critical situations.
The initiative integrates panic buttons with smart applications that offer real-time video support and seamless coordination between citizens and law enforcement agencies, significantly reducing response times.
Authorities said the platform has been designed with multilingual and user-friendly features to ensure accessibility for people from diverse backgrounds, while also improving communication during emergencies.
As part of the broader rollout, educational institutions are being integrated into the system, expanding its reach and strengthening safety mechanisms for students and staff across Punjab.
The move builds on earlier initiatives such as the “Pink Button” system and PSCA-linked safety apps, which allow instant alerts to be sent to central command centres, enabling swift deployment of police and rescue teams.
Officials say the expansion reflects the provincial government’s push to modernize emergency management infrastructure and create a faster, more coordinated response system across urban and rural areas.
