Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja held a meeting with Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) Secretary-General Deemah Al-Yahya on the sidelines of the global technology conference LEAP 2026 in Riyadh, with both sides discussing ways to deepen cooperation in the digital sector.

The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration between Pakistan and the DCO, particularly in emerging technologies, digital transformation and the development of a more connected digital economy.

During the talks, the two sides exchanged views on the rapid evolution of emerging technologies and the growing importance of digital transformation in driving economic development. They also discussed opportunities to expand cooperation in innovation and technology among DCO member states.

The meeting underscored the importance of greater technical collaboration and knowledge-sharing between member countries as digital technologies continue to reshape economies, businesses and public services.

Both sides agreed on the need to broaden cooperation in the digital economy, promote innovation and create stronger avenues for collaboration among DCO member states. They also reaffirmed their commitment to taking technical partnerships and digital cooperation forward.

The discussions come as countries increasingly seek stronger regional and international partnerships to develop digital capabilities, support innovation and harness emerging technologies for economic growth.

Pakistan has continued to place digital transformation and technology-led development among its key priorities, while engagement with international digital organisations provides opportunities for greater technical cooperation and exchange of expertise.
