ISLAMABAD:

Pakistan has taken another step towards strengthening its digital economy, with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) signing an agreement to integrate the country’s degree verification system with a new national digital workforce platform.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed on July 28, will enable HEC’s digital degree verification system to connect with PSEB’s upcoming workforce platform, allowing employers to verify academic credentials electronically while improving transparency and trust in recruitment.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar, Chairman of HEC, and Faisal Jeddy, Chief Executive Officer of PSEB, along with senior officials from both organizations.

Officials said the integration will enable authenticated digital verification of degrees for students and professionals, reducing verification delays and strengthening confidence in Pakistan’s academic credentials among employers at home and abroad.

A key feature of the initiative is the creation of Pakistan’s first national verified digital talent repository, which will host authenticated digital profiles of students and information technology professionals. The platform is expected to provide domestic and international employers with access to a trusted pool of verified talent, improving recruitment, talent matching and global employment opportunities for Pakistan’s growing technology workforce.

The collaboration is part of broader efforts to build a data-driven digital ecosystem that supports skills development, strengthens links between academia and industry, and advances Pakistan’s digital transformation agenda while enhancing the global competitiveness of its IT professionals.
