One App, One Payment: Punjab to Merge Token Tax and EPA Challans

LAHORE: The Punjab government has decided to integrate vehicle token tax and Environmental Protection Agency challan payments into a single digital platform, in a move aimed at simplifying public payments and expanding e-governance services.

The initiative is expected to be implemented through the ePay Punjab platform, allowing citizens to manage multiple vehicle-related payments through one app instead of separate systems.

Officials say the integration will streamline payment procedures, improve compliance, and reduce the need for physical visits to government offices.

The move comes as Punjab increasingly relies on digital enforcement systems, including Safe Cities surveillance networks and electronic challan mechanisms, to monitor traffic and environmental violations.

Developed by the Punjab Information Technology Board, ePay Punjab already supports a wide range of government payments, including token taxes, vehicle registration, traffic challans, and property-related fees.

Analysts say the latest integration reflects the province’s broader push toward centralized digital governance, where public services are increasingly being connected through unified online platforms to improve efficiency and transparency.
