The Punjab Government has introduced sweeping new regulations for private school registration, aiming to improve transparency, safety standards, and regulatory oversight across the education sector.

Under the revised framework, all private schools will be required to disclose their full fee structures and reserve at least 10 percent of admissions for underprivileged students, marking a significant shift toward greater inclusivity, according to reports.

Authorities have also mandated stricter infrastructure and safety requirements. Schools located on main roads must install zebra crossings and proper signage, while CCTV cameras, sanitation systems, and anti-dengue measures have been made compulsory.

In a push toward digitization, the registration process will now be conducted through a centralized online portal, with mandatory enrollment on government platforms such as the Punjab Safety App and Green School App.

Additionally, institutions must submit building fitness and hygiene certificates as part of the registration process, while franchise schools will need a no-objection certificate (NOC) from their parent organizations.

The policy also introduces transport requirements, with schools expected to provide transport facilities to at least half of their students, further expanding operational obligations for private institutions.

The new rules come as part of broader education reforms in Punjab, where authorities are increasing monitoring and compliance measures while leveraging digital systems to streamline governance and accountability.

Officials say the move is designed to ensure better service delivery, enhance student safety, and bring greater standardization to the province’s rapidly growing private education sector.
