Samsung is reportedly preparing a major shift in its laptop strategy by introducing Android-powered Galaxy Book devices running its signature One UI software, signaling a potential move away from traditional Windows-based systems.
According to recent reports, the upcoming Galaxy Book lineup could run on Android 17 paired with One UI 9, marking the first time Samsung’s smartphone-style interface would appear on full-scale laptops.
The new devices are expected to be developed across multiple tiers—including entry-level, mid-range, and flagship models—featuring a redesigned interface optimized for larger screens and productivity tasks.
Industry sources suggest the laptops may rely on Google’s next-generation platform, often referred to as “Aluminium OS,” which blends elements of Android and ChromeOS to deliver a desktop-like experience.
Samsung is also reportedly working on an enhanced version of its DeX platform, aiming to improve multitasking and seamless integration between Galaxy smartphones, tablets, and laptops.
While the company has not officially confirmed the plans, the new lineup could debut later in 2026, potentially aligning with announcements around Android 17 at upcoming industry events.
Analysts say the move could position Samsung to compete more directly with Apple’s ecosystem by unifying its devices under a consistent software experience, while also reshaping the future of Android in the PC market.
