PTA Flags Broadband Slowdowns Despite Overall Compliance in Nationwide QoS Survey
ISLAMABAD
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has completed its latest Quality of Service (QoS) survey for fixed-line broadband, highlighting widespread compliance by service providers but flagging performance issues that continue to affect user experience.
Conducted during the first quarter of 2026, the survey covered 31 major cities across Pakistan, including regions in Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. The assessment evaluated key performance indicators such as network availability, latency, and jitter across both local and international connectivity.
According to the findings, most Broadband Service Providers met core benchmarks. However, PTA identified persistent challenges among certain operators, particularly during peak usage hours when high bandwidth consumption led to network congestion and slower internet speeds.
The report also pointed to elevated latency levels in both domestic and international traffic, indicating inefficiencies in routing and backbone infrastructure.
In response, PTA has directed underperforming operators to take immediate corrective measures to improve service quality and ensure consistent connectivity for consumers.
The regulator said it remains committed to enhancing broadband standards nationwide, as demand for reliable high-speed internet continues to surge alongside Pakistan’s expanding digital ecosystem.
