Zong, Mashreq Bank Join Hands to Integrate Telecom Services Into Digital Banking Platform

ISLAMABAD

Pakistan’s telecom and digital banking sectors moved closer towards greater integration as Zong 4G and Mashreq Bank Pakistan announced a strategic partnership aimed at enabling telecom services within the bank’s digital banking ecosystem.

Under the collaboration, Mashreq customers will be able to access a range of Zong services directly through the Mashreq mobile application, including mobile balance recharge, bundle subscriptions and telecom-related payments, the companies said in a statement on Monday.

The integration is designed to provide real-time and secure transactions through a unified digital platform, reflecting growing convergence between Pakistan’s telecommunications and financial technology sectors.

“This partnership reflects our continued focus on expanding digital access and enhancing customer experience through technology enablement,” said Faheem Durrani, Executive Director Sales and Distribution at Zong.

“By integrating our telecom services into Mashreq’s digital ecosystem, we are making essential services more accessible while advancing our journey as a technology-driven service enterprise within Pakistan’s evolving digital landscape,” he added.

Muhammad Hamayun Sajjad, Chief Executive Officer of Mashreq Pakistan, said the collaboration aligns with the bank’s strategy to simplify everyday financial and lifestyle services for customers.

“As demand for mobile services continues to grow, this partnership with Zong enables customers to access essential services in a seamless, secure and convenient manner through the Mashreq app,” Sajjad said.

Industry analysts say such partnerships reflect the rapid expansion of Pakistan’s digital economy, where telecom operators and financial institutions are increasingly working together to offer integrated digital solutions.

The collaboration also signals broader efforts to improve digital accessibility and promote interoperable services as Pakistan accelerates adoption of mobile banking and digital payments nationwide.
