Raid uncovers CDRs, location data, IMEI records, BVS devices and suspicious SIMs in Lahore operation

Pakistani authorities have arrested three individuals in a crackdown on the illegal sale of confidential telecom subscriber data after the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) referred the case to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), officials said.

The operation was launched after PTA’s Lahore Zonal Office filed a complaint alleging the unauthorized sale of sensitive telecom information, including Call Detail Records (CDRs), subscriber details, location data and IMEI records.

Acting on the complaint, NCCIA conducted an enforcement raid in Lahore and apprehended three suspects. Authorities seized five mobile phones, eight Biometric Verification System (BVS) devices and 43 suspicious SIM cards during the operation.

Forensic analysis of the confiscated devices uncovered WhatsApp conversations allegedly linked to the unlawful trade of subscriber information. Investigators also recovered CDR files, IMEI and subscriber records, fingerprint and CNIC data, along with evidence of financial transactions connected to the suspected network.

An FIR has been registered, and authorities have launched further investigations to identify the full scope of the operation and any additional individuals involved.

PTA said it remains committed to safeguarding the confidentiality of telecom subscriber data and will continue working with law enforcement agencies to combat illegal access to and trafficking of sensitive customer information.
