Chinese smartphone maker Realme is preparing to launch its upcoming Realme 16T 5G smartphone this week, with the company revealing key specifications focused on battery life, AI-powered photography and durability ahead of the official debut.

The Realme 16T 5G is scheduled to launch in India on May 22 and is expected to target the mid-range smartphone market with a strong focus on long battery endurance and gaming performance.

One of the device’s biggest highlights is its massive 8,000mAh battery, which Realme claims can deliver up to three days of usage on a single charge. The phone will support 45W fast charging, bypass charging and reverse wired charging features.

The smartphone is also expected to feature a 50-megapixel Sony IMX852 main camera equipped with AI-based imaging tools, including AI Portrait Glow and RAW HDR processing aimed at improving low-light photography and social media content creation.

According to company teasers and industry leaks, the Realme 16T will come with a high-refresh-rate display of up to 144Hz, powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 6300 chipset and Android 16-based Realme UI software.

The device is also expected to carry IP66, IP68 and IP69-rated water and dust resistance certifications, signaling Realme’s push toward more rugged mid-range smartphones.

Analysts say the launch reflects growing competition among Chinese smartphone brands in the battery-focused and gaming-oriented mid-range segment, where companies are increasingly differentiating devices through AI camera tools, high-refresh displays and long-lasting power systems.

The Realme 16T is expected to debut alongside other ecosystem products, including the Realme Buds Air 8 Pro and Realme Watch S5, as the company expands its connected device portfolio.
