Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) and WWF-Pakistan have joined hands for a tree plantation drive in Islamabad, stepping up efforts to promote environmental sustainability and a greener future for Pakistan ahead of Independence Day.

The plantation activity was held at the PTCL Training Academy in Islamabad under the banner of ‘Plant for Pakistan’, as part of PTCL’s Independence Day campaign, ‘Pakistan Jitna Jawan’.

PTCL CEO Nadeem Khan and WWF-Pakistan Senior Director Programmes Rab Nawaz participated in the drive, along with senior executives, employees and members of the PTCL family.

The initiative reflects PTCL’s wider sustainability efforts, including measures to reduce its environmental footprint and carbon emissions as the company works towards its long-term goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions.

The company said the plantation drive was aimed at supporting a greener and more climate-resilient Pakistan, while encouraging employees and communities to play a greater role in protecting the environment.

The partnership with WWF also highlights the growing role of corporate-sector initiatives in addressing environmental challenges facing Pakistan, including climate change and the need for greater green cover.

Under its ‘Pakistan Jitna Jawan’ campaign, PTCL said it was seeking to highlight initiatives that contribute to a more connected, empowered and sustainable country.

The tree plantation drive sends a simple message ahead of Independence Day: national progress is not only about technology and economic growth, but also about protecting the environment for future generations.
