Pakistan’s Youth Earning Through Freelancing and Digital Platforms, Says IT Minister

Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja has said that Pakistan’s young population is demonstrating remarkable talent by generating income through freelancing and a growing range of digital platforms, underscoring the country’s expanding role in the global digital economy.
Speaking at the “Learn AI 2026” event in Islamabad, the minister emphasized that acquiring artificial intelligence skills has become a necessity in today’s technology-driven world. She noted that equipping young people with emerging digital skills would help unlock new economic opportunities and strengthen Pakistan’s competitiveness in the global tech sector.
Shaza Fatima said Pakistan’s youth possess immense potential and are increasingly leveraging online platforms to secure employment, freelance projects, and entrepreneurial opportunities. She stressed that investment in AI education and digital training is critical for preparing the workforce for future technological transformations.
The remarks come as the government, in collaboration with industry partners, advances the “Learn AI 2026” initiative, aimed at providing free AI training to students, developers, and young professionals across the country. The program also introduces modern AI-powered development tools that enable participants to build mobile applications and games using simple language commands.
The initiative reflects Pakistan’s broader push to expand digital skills, boost freelance exports, and position the country’s youth at the forefront of the rapidly evolving artificial intelligence landscape.
