Pakistan tops global IT ranking, surpasses 70 countries in major digital milestone

ISLAMABAD

Pakistan has secured a leading position in a global IT skills and training ranking, outperforming more than 70 countries across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, in what officials describe as a major milestone for the country’s digital sector.

According to reports, the achievement highlights Pakistan’s growing presence in the international technology landscape, driven by expanded training networks and youth-focused digital skill development programs.

Key contributors to the success include the SCO Software Technology Park Mirpur and Cisco Academy initiatives, which have been credited with strengthening technical education and aligning local talent with global industry standards.

Officials said that more than 100 IT setups operating across Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan played a crucial role in building the region’s digital capacity, helping Pakistan stand out among over 500 international academies across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

The report suggests that structured training programs and industry-aligned certifications have enabled thousands of young professionals to gain internationally recognized IT skills, boosting employability and freelance opportunities.

Experts say the development reflects Pakistan’s accelerating digital transformation and underscores the potential of its youth-driven tech ecosystem.

They added that collaboration between institutions such as SCO and Cisco Academy has helped elevate Pakistan’s position in the global IT training landscape, creating new pathways for innovation, remote work, and digital entrepreneurship.

Officials described the achievement as a “positive signal” for Pakistan’s future digital economy, with expectations that continued investment in skills development will further strengthen the country’s global competitiveness.
