Government Launches e-Pension Portal to Digitise Pension Services

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has launched an e-Pension Portal in collaboration with the Accountant General Pakistan Revenues (AGPR), marking another step towards digitising pension services for government employees and pensioners.

The new portal is aimed at shifting pension-related processes from traditional paperwork to a digital system, making applications and processing more streamlined and accessible.

The initiative forms part of the government’s broader push to expand digital governance and reduce manual procedures in public-sector services.

The launch also comes as authorities move towards wider digital verification of pensioners. NADRA has already introduced digital proof-of-life facilities through its PakID platform, allowing eligible pensioners to complete verification without repeatedly visiting banks or pension offices.

The e-Pension initiative is expected to improve transparency, reduce administrative delays and make pension-related services more convenient for government employees and retirees.

The government has been accelerating pension reforms alongside digitalisation efforts as pension liabilities continue to place pressure on public finances. Earlier this month, the government signed agreements with 16 fund managers to operationalise its Defined Contribution Pension Fund Scheme for eligible federal employees.

The latest portal is expected to further support the transition towards a more efficient, technology-driven pension administration system in Pakistan.
