ISLAMABAD:

The federal government has constituted a high-level committee to review and audit the affairs of the National Information Technology Board (NITB) following directives issued by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, as part of efforts to improve governance and institutional performance.

The committee held its inaugural meeting under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Climate Change Musadik Malik. The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja, the Secretary Establishment and the Chief Executive Officer of NITB.

During the meeting, officials briefed the committee on NITB’s performance, ongoing operations and progress on implementing 27 directives aimed at improving the organization’s efficiency, governance and operational effectiveness.

The committee reviewed measures to strengthen NITB’s institutional capacity and streamline its operational framework, while assessing progress made in implementing the Prime Minister’s reform agenda.

Officials informed the committee that work on the 27 directives is underway, with further steps being considered to enhance the organization’s performance and improve service delivery.

The committee decided to convene another meeting in the coming days to further assess implementation of the Prime Minister’s directives, review progress and finalize the next phase of reforms for the country’s key digital governance institution.
