Samsung Electronics has entered the consumer finance market with the launch of its first-ever Samsung Galaxy Card in the United States, offering up to 5% cash back and deep integration with Samsung Wallet as the tech giant expands its digital payments ecosystem.
Issued by Barclays on the Visa network, the new credit card allows users to apply, manage accounts, track spending and redeem rewards directly through Samsung Wallet. The card offers 5% cash back on eligible Samsung purchases, 3% on purchases made using Samsung Wallet, 2% on eligible streaming services, and 1% on all other purchases, with no annual fee.
Samsung said new cardholders can also earn a $200 welcome bonus after meeting the required spending threshold within the first 90 days. The company said the launch is aimed at strengthening customer loyalty while expanding its presence in digital financial services.
The move pits Samsung more directly against Apple’s financial ecosystem, where the Apple Card has helped deepen customer engagement through integrated digital payment services. Analysts say the launch underscores intensifying competition among technology companies seeking to make smartphones the primary hub for payments and personal finance.
