Annual export remittances rise 20.6%, while ICT sector posts record $3.9bn trade surplus in FY2025-26
Pakistan’s information and communication technology (ICT) sector posted its strongest performance on record in fiscal year 2025-26, with export remittances climbing to an all-time high of $4.6 billion, underscoring the sector’s growing role in driving economic growth and digital transformation.
The latest official figures show ICT export remittances increased 20.6% year-on-year, setting a new benchmark for the country’s technology industry amid rising global demand for Pakistani IT and digital services.
The sector also recorded a historic $3.9 billion trade surplus, the highest ever achieved by any services sector in Pakistan, highlighting ICT’s expanding contribution to the country’s external account and export earnings.
The milestone reflects sustained growth in software exports, IT-enabled services, freelancing and digital innovation, reinforcing the government’s ambition to position Pakistan as a regional technology and digital services hub.
Officials said the record performance demonstrates the strategic importance of the ICT industry in strengthening foreign exchange earnings, creating high-value employment and supporting Pakistan’s long-term digital economy agenda.
The latest figures add to the momentum of Pakistan’s Digital Nation initiative, with policymakers aiming to accelerate investment, innovation and technology exports to sustain the sector’s strong growth trajectory.
