Meta has launched a new AI-powered business agent for WhatsApp, enabling companies to automate customer interactions, handle inquiries, schedule appointments and support sales operations through a single intelligent platform.
The global rollout marks Meta’s latest push into the rapidly expanding enterprise AI market, where technology firms are racing to offer businesses advanced automation tools for customer engagement and operational efficiency.
According to Meta, the new Business Agent can answer customer questions, recommend products, qualify leads and route complex issues to human representatives when needed. The system is designed to operate around the clock, helping businesses improve response times and customer experience.
Initially available through WhatsApp Business, the AI-powered assistant is also expected to expand across Instagram, Messenger and other Meta business platforms, creating a unified customer service ecosystem.
Meta said the tool can be customized to reflect a company’s brand voice, products and services, while future enhancements may include market research, business insights and advanced workflow automation.
The company is also enabling integrations with platforms such as Shopify and Zendesk, allowing businesses to connect customer conversations with broader sales and support operations.
More than one million businesses have already used earlier versions of Meta’s business messaging AI, and the company sees AI agents becoming a core digital tool for enterprises of all sizes.
The launch underscores Meta’s growing ambitions beyond social media advertising, as it seeks to position WhatsApp as a major platform for AI-driven commerce, customer service and business automation worldwide.
