Pakistan–Japan Tech Bridge Launched as Startups Eye Global Expansion at ‘Go Global’ Forum
ISLAMABAD
Pakistan and Japan have deepened technology cooperation through a new startup-focused initiative aimed at accelerating global market access for Pakistani tech firms, as both countries seek to align innovation ecosystems in artificial intelligence, fintech and digital services.
The development came at the Pakistan–Japan “Go Global” Startup Collaboration forum held in Tokyo, where policymakers, investors and entrepreneurs gathered to explore cross-border partnerships and commercial opportunities.
The initiative connects Pakistani startups with Japanese enterprises under a broader innovation bridge framework, positioning Pakistan’s emerging digital economy alongside Japan’s advanced industrial and “Society 5.0” transformation agenda.
Five Pakistani startups showcased solutions ranging from AI-driven automation and fintech platforms to cybersecurity, supply chain tracking and industrial sensing technologies, drawing interest from Japanese corporate and venture stakeholders.
Officials highlighted Pakistan’s growing IT export base and expanding freelancer economy, framing the collaboration as part of efforts to scale up from service exports toward product-driven global innovation.
Diplomatic and industry representatives said the engagement mirrors a step-by-step partnership model, similar to long-term Japanese industrial investments in other Asian markets, with an emphasis on building trust through smaller pilot projects before scaling up cooperation.
Analysts say the initiative reflects Pakistan’s broader strategy to embed its startup ecosystem into global value chains, as competition intensifies among emerging markets to attract technology investment and cross-border innovation partnerships.
