Pakistan’s information technology (IT) exports posted robust growth during the first eight months of the current fiscal year, underlining the sector’s rising contribution to the economy, official data showed.

According to the Ministry of IT, IT and IT-enabled services exports increased by **19.7% year-on-year** between July and February, reaching **$2.97 billion**, compared to **$2.48 billion** in the same period last year.

On a monthly basis, ICT exports stood at **$365 million in February 2026**, reflecting sustained demand for Pakistani digital services in global markets.

The ministry noted that the sector recorded a **19.3% annual increase** in exports, further cementing its position as Pakistan’s top-performing services industry.

Notably, the ICT sector achieved a **trade surplus of $2.55 billion**, with the IT industry alone contributing **86% of total services exports surplus**, highlighting its critical role in easing external account pressures.

Officials described the continued expansion in ICT exports as a **positive signal for the broader economy**, driven by growing global outsourcing demand, a skilled workforce, and supportive policy measures.

The IT sector has increasingly emerged as Pakistan’s **best-performing services segment**, offering resilience amid economic challenges and positioning the country as a competitive player in the global digital economy.
