The Senate Standing Committee on Information Technology held a session today as Pakistan advances its 5G rollout, with telecom regulators updating members on the latest auction developments.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Chairman confirmed that the first phase of the 5G spectrum auction has been successfully completed, with telecom companies securing their licenses. He added that the second phase of bidding for spectrum positioning is scheduled for tomorrow, while companies have already imported 5G equipment in anticipation.
“All three major telecom operators are ready to begin immediate 5G testing,” the PTA chief said, signaling a rapid transition toward commercial deployment of the next-generation network in Pakistan.
With 5G expected to bolster digital connectivity and accelerate technological innovation, industry insiders are closely monitoring the final stages of the auction.
