In line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Murree Police has launched a “Safe Tourism App,” marking what officials describe as a shift from traditional policing to a smart, technology-driven security model.
The application, introduced on February 28, 2026, is designed to function as a digital safety companion for tourists visiting the hill station. Developed using artificial intelligence, the platform integrates multiple departments — including police services, Rescue 1122, district administration and the Meteorological Department — into a single digital interface.
District Police Officer Dr. Muhammad Raza Tanveer said the app meets international standards and operates as a 24/7 “virtual tourist guide,” offering immediate access to Police, Traffic Police and Motorway Police services. A dedicated “Virtual Women Police Station” has been incorporated to enhance safety for women and families.
The system also features a live AI chatbot providing route navigation, weather forecasts and traffic updates. Authorities said the integration of real-time services aims to reassure the millions of domestic and foreign tourists who travel to Murree each year.

To promote transparency, officials have introduced a “Text to DPO” facility, enabling visitors to send complaints or emergency messages directly to the DPO via WhatsApp. The app further includes a “Smart Tourism Directory” listing police stations, hospitals, hotels, workshops and verified recreational sites, supported by GPS-enabled live locations.
Dr. Tanveer said the initiative seeks to preserve Murree’s traditional hospitality while enhancing public safety through modern tools. The “Safe Tourism App” is now available on the Google Play Store, and tourists have been advised to download it prior to travelling.
Officials describe the move as part of broader efforts to position Murree among the region’s safest and most digitally connected tourist destinations.
