National Forensic Agency Introduces Fees for Digital Data Extraction and Analysis

The National Forensic Agency (NFA) has announced that it will begin charging fees for forensic services, including digital data extraction and analysis, across all institutions nationwide. The move has been approved by the Ministry of Interior.

According to the notification, fees will vary based on the device type, complexity, and nature of forensic procedures. Extraction from locked or unlocked Android and iPhone devices will be Rs2,500 per case, while retrieval from damaged mobile phones will cost Rs25,000.

Other charges include:

  • Smartwatches and classic mobile phones: Rs2,000 per case
  • SIM cards: Rs1,000 per case
  • Videos, audio recordings, and images: Rs2,000 per case
  • Hard disks and memory devices: Rs3,000 per case
  • RAID systems: Rs5,000 per case
  • Damaged hard disks or memory devices: Rs3,000 per case

The NFA also set Rs10,000 per case for a complete forensic analysis and report, as well as expert testimony in court. Authorities have notified all relevant organizations about the updated charges.

Officials said the new fee structure is part of ongoing efforts to streamline forensic services, improve resource management, and ensure that investigations maintain high standards of accuracy and accountability.
