Pakistan’s National Cyber Emergency Response Team (National CERT) has conducted a specialised cybersecurity capacity-building programme for officers of the National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC), aimed at strengthening risk-informed security readiness and improving resilience against evolving cyber threats.
The training, held in line with National CERT’s approved guidelines, was designed to address cybersecurity challenges at strategic, managerial and technical levels. Senior executives, management staff and operational teams from NTC took part, reflecting a whole-of-organisation approach to cyber risk awareness and preparedness.
The session was led by Khurram Javed, Director Capacity Building at National CERT, who highlighted the importance of identifying, assessing and mitigating cyber risks through a structured risk-management ecosystem. He underscored that effective cybersecurity today requires not only technical controls but also informed leadership and institutional readiness.
Officials from NTC’s headquarters attended the training in person, while participants from regional centres across the country joined virtually, ensuring nationwide representation. The interactive sessions featured scenario-based discussions and real-world case studies, prompting active engagement and practical exchange of views on emerging cyber threats and organisational risk posture.
National CERT said the initiative reflects its broader mandate to enhance public-sector cybersecurity capabilities by equipping institutions with the skills and frameworks needed to prevent, manage and respond to digital threats.
The programme forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Pakistan’s cyber resilience as digital infrastructure and critical communication networks become increasingly central to governance and service delivery.
