LAHORE: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), in collaboration with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), has raided an allegedly illegal internet service provider operating without a valid PTA licence in Lahore’s Kahna Nau area.

The operation was carried out by PTA Zonal Office Lahore and the FIA’s Corporate Crime Circle (CCC) Lahore at the premises of M/s Frontend Internet (SMC-Private Limited) near Mosque Bilal, Baddoki, Ferozepur Road.

One Person Taken Into Custody

Authorities took one person into custody during the raid and confiscated equipment allegedly being used to provide internet services without regulatory authorisation.

The seized items included:

• 2 Cisco switches
• 5 GPON OLTs
• 19 patch cables
• 3 cash memo books
• 1 laptop

An FIR has been registered, while the FIA is continuing its investigation into the case.

PTA Steps Up Action Against Illegal ISPs

The latest operation is part of PTA’s continuing enforcement campaign against the unauthorised provision of internet services.

The regulator said action against illegal operators is important to curb tax evasion and revenue misreporting, helping protect the national exchequer while ensuring that telecom services are provided within the legal and regulatory framework.

PTA said it would continue monitoring and taking action against operators providing internet services without the required licence.

PTA Warns Consumers

The authority has also urged consumers to obtain internet and other telecom services only from PTA-licensed operators.

PTA warned that customers using unauthorised providers could face sudden disruption or discontinuation of services if enforcement action is taken against illegal operators.

The crackdown underscores the regulator’s efforts to bring Pakistan’s expanding internet service market under greater regulatory oversight and ensure compliance with licensing and revenue requirements.
