Government Appoints Finance Member to Telecom Appellate Tribunal Following Islamabad High Court Orders
ISLAMABAD
The federal government has appointed Muhammad Tanveer Butt as Member Finance of the Telecommunication Appellate Tribunal in compliance with directives issued by the Islamabad High Court, according to an official notification.

The appointment has been made under the Telecommunication Appellate Tribunal Act 2024, with the Ministry of Law and Justice formally issuing the notification for his induction on a four-year contract under the MP-I scale.
Officials said Muhammad Tanveer Butt will perform his duties in Islamabad and will remain in office until the age of 68 or until further orders, whichever comes earlier.
The appointment comes amid ongoing efforts to operationalise and strengthen the newly structured Telecommunication Appellate Tribunal, which serves as a key forum for resolving disputes and appeals related to Pakistan’s telecom sector.
Legal and industry observers say the move is expected to support faster adjudication of telecom-related financial and regulatory matters, particularly at a time when the sector faces increasing litigation linked to licensing, spectrum and compliance issues.
The development also reflects the government’s broader push to reinforce institutional and regulatory frameworks within Pakistan’s rapidly evolving digital and telecommunications landscape.
