National CERT Strengthens Cyber Defences with Advanced FIRST Security Training for Officials

Islamabad

Pakistan’s cybersecurity preparedness has received a boost as the National CERT Pakistan conducted a specialised training programme aimed at enhancing institutional resilience against evolving digital threats.

Focus on Cyber Readiness

The training, titled “FIRST Security Training Course”, was held at National CERT headquarters in Islamabad and designed to strengthen technical expertise in incident response, threat intelligence, and cyber defence coordination.

Officials said the programme forms part of a broader whole-of-organisation approach to improve operational readiness across cybersecurity functions.

Key Modules on Modern Threats

The course included advanced modules such as:

  • FIRST Security Boot Camp
  • DDoS mitigation fundamentals
  • Threat intelligence pipeline development

The training aligns Pakistan’s cyber response capabilities with global standards set by the Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams (FIRST), a leading international cybersecurity organisation.

Expert-Led Capacity Building

The sessions were conducted by certified trainer Muhammad Asad Ul Rehman under the Distinguished Trainers Program, with participants from both technical and operational teams.

Officials noted strong engagement throughout the programme, reflecting growing institutional focus on continuous learning and cyber resilience.

Strengthening Digital Defence

Cybersecurity experts say such initiatives are critical as Pakistan faces increasing exposure to sophisticated cyber threats targeting government and critical infrastructure systems.

National CERT said the training is part of ongoing efforts to build a secure, resilient, and future-ready digital ecosystem in the country.
