Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued a nationwide warning after a notable increase in phishing scams targeting citizens across the country. Authorities have urged users to exercise caution against suspicious messages, emails, calls, and social media links that attempt to steal personal information.

The PTA highlighted that cybercriminals are increasingly impersonating trusted institutions to trick individuals into sharing sensitive data, including banking credentials, passwords, and other personal details. These scams often create a false sense of urgency to compel victims into immediate action.

Officials emphasized that the PTA never requests personal or financial information through unsolicited calls, texts, or emails, and advised citizens to report any suspicious activity promptly.

The advisory also encouraged users to adopt basic cybersecurity practices, including verifying sender authenticity, avoiding clicking on unknown links, and updating account passwords regularly.

As digital adoption in Pakistan grows, the rise in phishing attacks underscores the urgent need for public awareness and proactive measures to protect personal and financial data.
