LinkedIn says most users are missing out on a powerful way to boost visibility: long-form articles. While short posts, links, and carousels dominate feeds, LinkedIn highlights that in-depth articles are increasingly being cited by AI chatbots like ChatGPT, Google AI, and Perplexity, making them a strategic tool for professional influence.
According to LinkedIn, AI now references LinkedIn content at a growing rate—over 15,000 citations come from LinkedIn Pulse articles alone—placing the platform just behind Reddit as the most cited source in AI responses.
The platform advises articles of 800–1,200 words with actionable, educational content to maximize AI visibility. Authenticity matters: AI-assisted writing is encouraged, but fully AI-generated posts are discouraged.
Experts say this shift transforms article writing from optional to essential. Professionals who publish insightful, original content can now see their work amplified beyond LinkedIn, reaching audiences through AI-powered searches and tools—giving thought leadership a new digital edge.
