ISLAMABAD:
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has conducted an independent Quality of Service (QoS) survey across 20 cities during the fourth quarter of 2025 to evaluate the performance of telecom operators and safeguard consumer interests.
According to a press release issued on March 4, 2026, PTA teams carried out extensive testing on major roads as well as in residential and commercial areas. The survey assessed Voice Calls, SMS, and Mobile Broadband/Data services using automated QoS monitoring tools in line with NGMS licence conditions and the Cellular Mobile Network QoS Regulations, 2021.
The regulator ranked Cellular Mobile Operators (CMOs) based on their compliance with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Mobile Network Coverage, Voice Services, and Mobile Broadband performance.
PTA noted that mobile data services generally remained within prescribed thresholds in most surveyed areas. However, certain Voice-related KPIs were found to be below licensed standards in select locations.
The authority has issued directives to the concerned operators, instructing them to undertake corrective measures to address service gaps and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
The latest survey forms part of PTA’s ongoing monitoring framework aimed at improving service quality and enhancing customer experience across Pakistan’s telecom sector.
