BEEP App Launched for Secure Communication Among Government Employees

The National Information Technology Board (NITB) has rolled out the BEEP application on a pilot basis across three federal divisions — Cabinet, Planning, and IT — to provide secure communication for government employees.

According to officials, accounts for employees and officers have been created on the platform, and usage has already commenced in the three divisions. Introductory sessions are ongoing in other ministries as part of a phased rollout.

The application, developed by NITB, has undergone a full security audit and has been submitted to the federal government for approval. It is designed as an alternative to platforms like WhatsApp and Zoom, offering audio and video calling, as well as video conferencing capabilities.

Officials highlighted that BEEP will allow safe transfer of official documents, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with government security standards. The timeline for a full nationwide launch will be decided by the federal government.
