ISLAMABAD:
The inaugural Indus AI Week officially began nationwide with the Indus AI Summit and Innovation Expo in Islamabad, showcasing Pakistan’s push toward cutting-edge artificial intelligence and technology-driven solutions.
The event, which brings together startups, public sector platforms, and global AI leaders, aims to highlight practical applications of AI while promoting responsible and inclusive innovation.
In his opening remarks, organizers expressed appreciation for Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and his government’s vision for a #DigitalNationPakistan, noting that strong governmental support has paved the way for the country to present its AI capabilities on an international stage.
The summit featured over 40 global delegates who discussed cross-border collaboration, trusted data frameworks, and scaling AI ecosystems responsibly. Speakers emphasized a use-case-first approach, prioritizing national outcomes, ethical deployment, and inclusive access to AI technologies.
The Indus AI Expo showcased a range of innovations across startups, public sector platforms such as #GovTech and #DefenseTech, and industry leaders demonstrating practical AI solutions. Notably, the launch of the “AI for Her” Pavilion highlighted efforts to empower women innovators, founders, and students in AI.
Organizers also welcomed differently-abled children to experience the Expo, underlining a commitment to inclusivity in technology. Youth engagement was a key feature, with over 5,000 young people trained in collaboration with major tech companies and more than 3,000 participants taking part in an e-Sports competition.
Event organizers stressed that Pakistan’s approach to AI focuses on strong data governance, human accountability, and inclusive innovation, aiming to leverage artificial intelligence for national development while fostering collaboration on a global scale.
