Islamabad:
Federal Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima Khawaja on Friday said the Center of Excellence in Gaming and Animation (CEGA) is playing a vital role in strengthening Pakistan’s digital economy by transforming creative talent into sustainable careers.
In a statement, the IT minister said she was encouraged to see CEGA making a tangible impact on the country’s gaming and animation industry, describing the initiative as a project close to her heart.
“CEGA is about turning passion into profession and creativity into careers,” Shaza Fatima said, adding that gaming and animation are among the few digital sectors where countries can generate global exports, intellectual property, jobs and foreign exchange purely through talent.
She noted that the global gaming industry is expanding rapidly, offering new economic opportunities for countries that invest in skills development and innovation. Pakistan, she said, has immense untapped potential in gaming, animation and digital content creation.
The IT minister emphasized that CEGA aims to connect young creators with emerging digital economies, enabling them to compete at an international level. “Our goal is to unlock the potential of Pakistani youth and position Pakistan as a serious global player in gaming and animation,” she said.
According to officials, CEGA focuses on training, mentorship and industry collaboration to help aspiring developers, designers and animators build market-ready skills. The initiative aligns with the government’s broader strategy to promote technology-driven growth, digital exports and employment generation.
The government sees the gaming and animation sector as a key pillar of Pakistan’s future digital economy, with the potential to attract foreign investment and enhance the country’s global tech footprint.
