ISLAMABAD

Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja has described Indus AI Week as a defining moment for Pakistan’s technology sector, saying the initiative reflects the country’s ambition to make artificial intelligence accessible, inclusive and globally competitive.

In remarks shared ahead of the national AI event, the minister said her core mission was to ensure that AI is not limited to elite institutions or large corporations but reaches innovators, startups and young professionals across Pakistan. She noted that wider access to AI tools and skills would help Pakistani talent connect with global markets and remain relevant in a fast-changing digital economy.

“Artificial intelligence is no longer optional for economic growth. It is central to how countries compete, innovate and create jobs,” the minister said, adding that Indus AI Week signals Pakistan’s shift from discussion to practical adoption of emerging technologies.

She stressed that the government’s focus is on building an ecosystem where policy, industry and talent move together, enabling local innovators to develop AI-driven solutions for domestic challenges while also exporting technology and services abroad.

Officials said Indus AI Week is aligned with Pakistan’s broader Digital Pakistan agenda and the National AI Policy, aiming to strengthen skills development, encourage innovation and position the country as a credible player in the global AI landscape.

The week-long programme will feature conferences, innovation showcases, training sessions and partner-led events nationwide. More details are available at: indusai.gov.pk
