Islamabad —
The Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) has hosted a two-day semi-classical dance workshop led by renowned dancer and instructor Fatima Amjed, reinforcing its role in promoting arts education and cultural engagement across the country.
Held on January 17 and 18, 2026, at the PNCA premises in Islamabad, the workshop attracted participants from a wide range of age groups, from teenagers to adults. Designed as a beginner-friendly and inclusive programme, the sessions introduced participants to the fundamentals of semi-classical dance, with a focus on movement, rhythm and expression.
The workshop opened with an overview of PNCA’s mandate and its ongoing efforts to provide accessible platforms for cultural learning and artistic exchange. Organisers said such initiatives are aimed at nurturing emerging talent, encouraging public participation in the arts and strengthening appreciation for Pakistan’s cultural heritage.
Fatima Amjed, known for her refined approach to semi-classical dance and teaching, guided participants through carefully structured movement sequences. Emphasising technique, expression and confidence, she adopted an interactive teaching style that drew enthusiastic participation throughout the two-day programme.
PNCA officials said the workshop reflected the institution’s broader vision of supporting artists who contribute to the preservation and evolution of traditional art forms in contemporary settings. They added that the initiative was part of a sustained effort to create meaningful cultural experiences and expand access to arts education.
The successful completion of the workshop further underscores PNCA’s position as a leading national institution dedicated to cultural continuity, community outreach and creative education. The council said it plans to organise similar programmes in the future to strengthen Pakistan’s cultural landscape and provide learning opportunities for aspiring artists.
