Zong CMPak Ltd, in partnership with the Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency (Pak-EPA), has carried out a large-scale plantation drive across key green sites in the federal capital, reinforcing efforts to promote urban sustainability and climate resilience.
The initiative saw hundreds of saplings planted with the participation of Zong employees, local volunteers and environmental advocates. Officials said the drive aligns with Pak-EPA’s Green and Low-Carbon initiatives, which focus on expanding urban forestry, protecting biodiversity and developing sustainable city landscapes to counter rising temperatures and improve air quality.
Zong representatives described the campaign as part of the company’s broader commitment to corporate environmental responsibility, noting that youth engagement and public-private collaboration are critical to addressing climate challenges in rapidly growing cities.
Local stakeholders welcomed the initiative as a practical step towards ecological restoration in Islamabad, where urban expansion has put increasing pressure on green spaces. Environmental experts say such joint efforts can help reduce the urban heat-island effect while fostering long-term environmental awareness.
By combining corporate support with government-led environmental policy, the plantation drive highlights how collaborative action can contribute to building greener, healthier urban ecosystems and support Pakistan’s wider climate goals.
