Second Round of Pakistan’s 5G Spectrum Auction Underway

ISLAMABAD:

The second round of Pakistan’s 5G spectrum auction began on Tuesday, continuing the country’s landmark process to roll out next-generation mobile connectivity.

Officials from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority said the second round will last 30 minutes, with all three eligible telecom operators actively participating in the bidding process.

The ongoing auction aims to allocate critical spectrum bands for 5G services, paving the way for faster internet speeds, improved network capacity, and wider adoption of digital technologies across Pakistan.

Authorities emphasized that the auction is a pivotal step in the government’s Digital Pakistan vision, ensuring that 5G connectivity reaches major cities and supports emerging industries such as Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain.

The PTA said results from this round will inform the pricing for subsequent bidding phases, with competition expected to remain robust among the operators.
