PTA Urges Users to Activate Free Balance Save Service to Avoid Unexpected Data Charges

ISLAMABAD

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued a public advisory urging mobile users to activate the free Balance Save service to prevent unintended balance deductions caused by continued internet usage after data bundles expire.

The regulator warned that once bundles are exhausted, mobile data may continue at higher Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) rates, leading to unexpected charges. To address this, cellular operators offer a free Balance Save (PAYG Blocker) service that automatically halts internet usage once the bundle limit is reached.

Consumers have been encouraged to activate the service through operator-specific codes, as part of PTA’s efforts to enhance transparency and protect user balances across telecom networks.

The advisory underscores the regulator’s ongoing commitment to safeguarding consumer interests in Pakistan’s rapidly evolving digital landscape.
