Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday inaugurated the Pakistan Asaan Khidmat Centre in Islamabad, describing it as a key milestone in the government’s Digital Pakistan agenda aimed at modernising public service delivery through technology.

Welcoming the prime minister at the ceremony, Faisal Iqbal Ratyal, Chief Executive Officer of the National Information Technology Board (NITB), outlined the centre’s role in providing integrated, citizen-centric digital services under one roof.

Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Sharif commended NITB’s leadership and technical teams for what he called their “unwavering commitment to digital innovation,” saying such initiatives were essential to improving governance, transparency and service efficiency.

The prime minister also announced that the government plans to replicate the Asaan Khidmat Centre model nationwide, with Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir identified as priority regions in the next phase of expansion.

“This model reflects our vision of Digital Pakistan, where technology simplifies lives, brings services closer to citizens and ensures equal access across regions,” the prime minister said, according to officials present at the ceremony.

Prime Minister Sharif further expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev, the visiting Azerbaijani delegation, and other partner institutions for their support in the development of the centre, underscoring Pakistan’s growing international cooperation in digital governance and public sector reform.

The launch of the Pakistan Asaan Khidmat Centre is being viewed by officials as a practical step toward translating the Digital Pakistan vision into on-ground service delivery, particularly for citizens who face barriers in accessing government services through traditional channels.
