ISLAMABAD:

Pakistan’s transition to next-generation connectivity has gained momentum, with over 2,200 devices now active on 5G networks following the recent licensing of services.

According to industry sources, Jazz has activated around 177 5G sites, while Zong has deployed approximately 150 sites, taking the total beyond 300 across key مناطق.

In the federal capital, coverage has been extended to strategic locations including the Red Zone, Blue Area, and areas surrounding Parliament, signalling early-stage deployment focused on high-priority zones.

Currently, 5G connectivity is supported across 2,254 devices from 103 mobile brands. However, major manufacturers such as Apple and Samsung have yet to release necessary updates enabling full 5G functionality for users in Pakistan.

The rollout represents a significant step toward strengthening the country’s digital infrastructure, promising faster internet speeds and enhanced connectivity for businesses and consumers. Analysts note that while coverage remains limited, the activation of initial sites lays the groundwork for broader nationwide adoption in the coming years.
