Pakistan Establishes National Cybersecurity Control Room Amid Rising Threats

ISLAMABAD:

The National Computer Emergency Response Team has formally launched an investigation into reported cyberattacks targeting multiple private television channels and news websites.

According to officials, complaints were received late last night regarding hacking incidents affecting several private broadcasters and online platforms. Authorities said a comprehensive inquiry into the cyber incidents is currently under way.

Senior officials confirmed that an important meeting of the National CERT is in progress to assess the nature, scope and possible motives behind the attacks. Technical teams are examining affected systems to determine the extent of the breach and identify potential vulnerabilities.

The agency has also initiated coordination and consultations with relevant national institutions to contain any further risks and strengthen digital defences.

Officials stated that a detailed report will be compiled upon completion of the investigation.

The development underscores rising concerns over cybersecurity threats targeting media organisations amid heightened digital activity across the country.
