NADRA to Temporarily Suspend Satellite Services at 108 Centres in Remote Areas

Islamabad:

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced a temporary suspension of its satellite-based services at 108 registration centres located in remote regions across Pakistan due to scheduled technical maintenance.

According to an official notification, the services will remain unavailable on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, from 8:00am to 9:30am, affecting NADRA facilities operating in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Maintenance to Improve Connectivity Infrastructure

NADRA stated that the temporary disruption is part of routine maintenance of its satellite connectivity systems, which play a crucial role in delivering identity and registration services in geographically challenging and underserved areas.

Officials said satellite connectivity enables NADRA to operate in locations where traditional internet or landline infrastructure is either limited or unavailable, ensuring citizens in remote communities have access to essential government services.

Citizens Advised to Plan Visits

The authority has advised residents planning to visit affected centres during the maintenance window to reschedule their visits to avoid inconvenience. NADRA also apologised for the temporary disruption, assuring citizens that the maintenance work is necessary to improve service reliability and system performance.

Ensuring Service Access in Remote Regions

The maintenance activity reflects NADRA’s broader efforts to strengthen digital service delivery and maintain uninterrupted access to national identity services in far-flung areas. Officials emphasised that satellite-based operations remain a key component of Pakistan’s outreach strategy to extend public service coverage to underserved populations.
