Higher Education Commission to Launch Blockchain-Based Degree Attestation System by June 2026

Islamabad:

Higher Education Commission (HEC) is set to introduce the first phase of a blockchain-powered degree attestation system by June 2026, aiming to modernize Pakistan’s academic verification process and enhance transparency in credential management.

According to official documents, the new system will leverage Blockchain technology to create a secure digital network linking universities and Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) with the commission’s verification platform.

The initiative is designed to streamline the attestation and equivalence processes, allowing applicants to complete much of the verification procedure online while reducing the need for physical visits to universities for document authentication.

Under the proposed framework, universities and HEIs will receive dedicated digital dashboards enabling them to verify and validate students’ academic records directly within the system. Once the verification is completed at the institutional level, the application will automatically be forwarded to HEC for final attestation and processing.

After approval, the verified academic credentials will be securely stored as digital records on the blockchain, enabling graduates to access and share them electronically with employers, educational institutions, or other authorities whenever verification is required.

Officials say the blockchain-based platform will significantly reduce document forgery, fraud, and delays in verification, while strengthening the integrity and security of academic records across the country.

The commission expects the initial phase of the system to go live by June 30, 2026, marking a key step in Pakistan’s broader push to digitize higher education services and improve the management of academic credentials nationwide. 🎓
