Google’s artificial intelligence chatbot Gemini has crossed 750 million monthly active users, underscoring rapid growth in adoption as the company steps up competition in the global AI race, Google said in its latest quarterly earnings report.
The figure marks a sharp increase from around 650 million monthly users reported in the third quarter of 2025, indicating strong momentum over just three months. The growth places Gemini ahead of Meta’s AI offerings, which are estimated to have close to 500 million monthly users.
Despite the surge, Gemini still trails its biggest rival, OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which was reported to have about 810 million monthly users by the end of 2025, according to industry estimates.
Google disclosed the updated user numbers shortly after rolling out Gemini 3, its most advanced AI model to date. The company says the new version is capable of deeper reasoning and more complex task execution, reflecting a broader push to embed generative AI across its products and services.
“We are focused on both free users and subscribers, and we are seeing very strong results,” Google Chief Business Officer Philipp Schindler said during the earnings call.
Analysts say the rapid rise in Gemini’s user base highlights intensifying competition among big tech firms as AI tools become more mainstream, with user scale increasingly seen as a key measure of success in the sector.
