Google is expanding its artificial intelligence ecosystem by rolling out new Gemini-powered features to Google TV, aiming to deliver more interactive and informative viewing experiences.

The update introduces three key capabilities, including enhanced visual responses, AI-generated “deep dive” explanations, and personalised sports briefs—marking a significant step in integrating AI into home entertainment systems.

One of the standout additions is improved visual responses. Users can now receive richer answers to queries, such as live sports scorecards alongside streaming options, or video-based recipe guides instead of traditional text replies. Google says the system blends visuals, videos, and text to provide more comprehensive results.

The new “deep dive” feature allows users to explore topics like health, technology, and economics in greater detail. Accessible via the Gemini tab, it generates narrated explanations with custom visuals and supports follow-up questions for a more conversational experience.

For sports fans, the update brings tailored sports briefs, offering summaries of selected teams and leagues. These include match highlights, player updates, scores, and narrated overviews. Initial rollout covers major leagues such as the NBA, NHL, and MLB, among others.

The features were first previewed earlier this year and are now being gradually introduced, reflecting Google’s broader push to embed AI across its product ecosystem. Analysts say the updates could redefine how users interact with smart TVs, turning them into more intelligent, content-rich platforms rather than passive viewing devices.
